WHAT IS A LEADER?

Leadership is the process of influencing and leading the behavior of an individual or a group of people towards the overall goal of the organization.

What is leadership?

WHAT IS MANAGEMENT?

Management is the process of establishing and manipulating resources to achieve the overall goals of the organization

What is management?
According to Warren Bennis- "There's a very clear difference between management and leadership, and both are important."

"Managing means leading, completing work, taking responsibility, and executing."

Leadership is about influencing, guiding direction about ways, processes, actions and views.

In his book “On becoming a leader”, Warren Bennis describes his view of the difference between management and leadership as follows:

  • Executive management-innovation leadership
  • Management is copy-leadership is original
  • Management maintain-lead development
  • Management focuses on systems and structure-centered leadership
  • Management is based on control - leadership that provokes trust
  • Management accepts real-world investigative leaders
  • Management has a narrow vision - leadership has a broad vision
  • Management asks how and when-leaders ask what and why
  • Management centralized end results - leadership pays attention to a wide range of outside
  • Management follow-lead originates
  • Management accepts the status quo - leadership challenges it
  • Management is a good soldier - leadership is their own person
  • Management does the right thing - leadership does the right thing

Another expert who has a strong influence on the difference between management and leadership is that of John Kotter, author of the book "John P. Kotter on what leadership really does" (John P. Kotter on What Leaders Really Do). In this book, John made the following observations:

  • “Leadership and management are two distinct and reciprocal systems of action. Both are essential for success in an increasingly complex and volatile business environment ”
  • "Strong leadership with weak management is not better, and sometimes it's really worse than weak leadership with strong management"
  • “Management is dealing with complexity. Without good management, complex businesses will become chaotic. Good management brings order and unity. ”
  • “Leadership, by contrast, is about the face of change. More change always requires more leadership. ”

Thus, leadership and management may sound the same, but in fact the roles and responsibilities are completely different. Understanding this problem, we will be able to easily promote the functions of both.

THE LEADERS ARE RIGHT WORKERS, GETTED WITH CHANGE!

THE MANAGER IS THE PERSON WHO IS DOING THE RIGHT JOB, RESPONDING TO ALL THE PROMBLEMS THAT ARISE !
